M.O.F... or just a meuf?
I'm always sincerely disappointed when each year I somehow end up missing the Salon International de l'Agriculture - it's widely considered to be a lieu hot (that's hot with a capital O) for foodies, gourmands, cordons bleus, and people who just plain eat, quoi. This year, however, the aggie campaigners have done a fantastic publicity job, and I am determined to spend the first week of March petting cows, bunnies, and rinds of Petit Basque.
Not just for 4-H types, this truly international agricultural fair presents a fun and varied array of stands and programs ranging from la viande française (see: Destination mouton), to sub-Saharan farming cooperatives, to Vietnamese coffee! The Produits Laitiers folks will be there, too, probably handing out gobs of such mouth-watering, creamy delights as époisse and coulommiers.
To make the most of the fermented milk possibilities, I am diligently trying my hand at this : Etes-vous M.O.F. ? for a chance to win a seat at the grand M.O.F. finale (and maybe some cheese to boot?)
May the best M.O.F. win!

by the way-- I love that you have Zorba the Greek in your library-- do you know the musical by any chance as well??
as of yet, I only know the film adaptation of "Zorba the Greek." My dad married a couple to the soundtrack a few years back, but that's an entirely different story. I also had to perform the famous grapevine dance in yet another Spring Fair performance, but I don't think that version will be hitting Broadway anytime soon.
see you at the cheese stand!
