Girl Scout cookies
This NPR article on cooking with Girl Scout cookies is dangerous. Girl Scout cookies are addictive enough on their own, but finding ways to insert them into other meals? It also brought up some serious cravings and craving flashbacks. When I was pregnant with Jacques, all I could think about were super chile verde burritos from Baldemiro's, guacamole, Kuperman's Delight bagel sandwiches, and random health food "junk food" (Tiger's Milk bars... oh man.) from my hometown in California. Fortunately, today I can easily acquire most of my current cravings: gummy bears, ice cream, home made chocolate chip cookies. But then NPR had to come along and ruin it all with Girl Scout Cookies.
Lord, how I love Thin Mints, Samoas, and Peanut Butter Patties. Enough so that I went to the Girl Scout cookies web site to see if they had an online ordering protocol and international shipping. Not yet! Agh! The promotional video claims that Girl Scouts are "everywhere," and that I am "so ready to buy cookies," but cruelly, only one of these statements is totally, totally true. Witness evidence A, discovered in the FAQ section:
Can I buy Girl Scout Cookies online?
Although Girl Scouts of the USA does not currently allow online sales of Girl Scout Cookies, we are presently researching how to make it possible for girls to engage consumers in online sales, while continuing to help them develop critical and relevant entrepreneurship skills in the process. Use the Find Cookies! search box above to help you find cookies in your local community.
Go for it, Girls! I really, really encourage the Girl Scouts officials to venture into online commerce and international marketing. Paris is all aflutter over taco and hamburger trucks lately, so obviously there is serious potential for that other all-American delight, the Thin Mint!
