Letters of Note
This is a wonderful project. Have you seen it? A collection of noteworthy letters, written by notable people -- Sting, Dorothy Parker, Ted Hughes to name a few.
What an intriguing glimpse into well-known lives! Imagining them sitting down with a (fountain?) pen and a piece of (heavy stock?) paper, the way we all once used to do, to put down their thoughts - happily, angrily, wistfully -- it's like uncovering a time capsule. Remember how special it was to write a letter, that time you carved out to think things through before committing them indelibly to your stationery? And, of course, the magical moment when you opened your mail box and discovered a small, square, perhaps colorful envelope? Divining the sender by the handwriting that indicated your name and address?
