A School of Life for Atheists
Listening to Alain de Botton do what he does best here.
His argument for tolerance of human nature as taught by religion is the distilled reason why I am on board with Jacques going to Catholic mass with his papa on Sunday mornings.
Raised in a non-religious household, I personally find it easier to respond spiritually to Eastern philosophies than Judeo-Christian ones (and let's not even talk about the politics of the Church -- for now.) So while I don't attend mass with Jean-Baptiste and Jacques, I do believe that learning rather basic tenants for a life well-lived and having the support of a local community of people cultivating faith is simply good.
