Porn - Keeping the media on its toes

Like the “Pig fell in the mud” joke that my dad used to torture me with, I get a real kick out of euphemisms whose sole purpose is to sanitize a naughty concept. Take the term "adult entertainment." I get the entertainment bit... but I have a hard time wrapping my head around the adult part. Not that I'm an expert on the subject or anything (cough cough, wipes sweat from brow), but aren't the majority of porn amateurs either under 21 and male or succumbing to some Freudian complex stemming from a mom-inflicted childhood trauma? Ergo, emotionally pre-pubescent and not what a market researcher would automatically qualify as "adult?"

However you wish to classify the porn-viewing populace (does my judgment say more about me than than the demographic at hand?), I absolutely cannot keep a straight face while reading this article, published by those notorious nymphos over at the Wall Street Journal. Sarah McBride, what did you do to your editor to get stuck on this beat?

Ironically, this is precisely the kind of technical media information that I will probably have to discuss in an up-coming meeting. En français, nonetheless. My attempts to diplomatize hard-core and high-definition should prove interesting; I cringe in anticipation of tip-toeing my way around sounding like the proverbial American puritan prude and the horn-dog liberal Californian (T'es de quel coin, Aralena? Pasadena?)

what a wonderful opportunity to go all over the map...first, a blistering satire, then another blistering satire, followed by a plunge into the manipulation of the libidinous drive train of the subjects. I'm mad with envy!
