Your brain on sound

This article in Aeon Magazine, "One More Time: Why We Love Repetition in Music," digs into that striking phenomenon where when you say a word over and over and over again, it starts to sound odd and take on novel sonic effect. The author, Elizabeth Hellmuth Margulis is both a researcher and musician, and her dissection of the powerful and apparently universal wonder of repetition in music is technical, anthropological, and sometimes spiritual. Her latest book delves more deeply into the magic of sonic repetition, and now I'm curious to read it.
