(Feminism denial in France is rife. I can't tell you how many notable French women I've lost not a bit of admiration for when they answer an interviewer with, "I'm not a feminist, but blah blah blah." Oh? You're not a feminist but you believe there should be equal pay for equal work? Or that your partner should help to raise his children? Or that you should be able to walk down the street with your ankles exposed and not be stoned? Etc., etc.)
